Just felt like sharing.  Picked this up a couple of months ago.  The fun store said it was used...got it for $662.50 OTD.  Obviously it must have been shot and field stripped, but I doubt the previous owner put more than a box of ammo through it...though he left a few scratches in it.

At any rate, since bringing it home, I've installed a Brown GI guide and plug, Wilson "wedge/v-grip" MSH, Wilson drop in beavertail and had a friend mill the slide for the Heinie lo-mount ledge straight eights and Trijicon front.  Did a little polishing here and there...all in all, I'm pretty happy.

Where is the rest of the stable.  You should do a family shot.

Nice find.

Okay, it seems this silly crap has migrated to another forum, so now I'll make my warning personal:

jeepinnc- I'll say this for the last time: if you keep up this sort of nonsense in the TECHNICAL forums, you won't enjoy the consequences.

I won't say it again.

Thanks for the kind words.

Lately, I find myself wearing this gun more than my full size with the light since my job has taken me a little more from the front line door kickin' to a little more behind a desk,...(but my 5" is still close at hand...I can't give up goin' through doors completely!)

Hmm...perhaps some front strap checkering and maybe a black finish are in order...

I dumped the plastic msh...any other plastic or mim parts I need to worry about?

What I'd do is checker the front strap, break the sharp edges, bead blast and put some VZ Operators on it.

I don't know why, but I seem to see far more used Combat Commanders than any other model of Colt.

Serious question...is your front sight on backwards?

One N Fl gun shop I know says it's their most sold 1911.

I had a similar Colt that I bought several years back for $579 + tax.  For a long time it was my favorite handgun, and I swore I would never sell it.  I then re-discovered the world of 1911's (and semi-customs), and I quickly came to the conclusion that my Colt had been built by a bunch of drunken monkeys on a late Friday afternoon.  Mine was very poorly fitted, not to mention the all mim and plastic parts.  I figured it would cost me several hundred dollars to get it fixed up the way I wanted.  I traded the Colt and a used Glock for a like-new Les Baer and haven't had any regrets.  I would like to get another Colt one day, but I'll be sure to give it a good once-over now that I know what to look for.

Ahhh...No.  The glowing green dot faces me when I point the gun.

Hmm...interesting suggestions.  I think I have a set of Aliens laying around...bead blasting would be nice too...

Awesome, looks great.

Pony's are always worth adding to the stable's.
