I have a Springfield Armory M1911 that has seen better days, and i would like to "re-furbish" it so to speak.
I would like to re-barrel it, get some new parts like an old school trigger, spur type hammer, and a mainspring housing with a lanyard loop, and some good night-sights
I plan on parking it, and have looked into a DIY kit and looks doable for me, but would like some input and advice.  Also, how is the best way to remove the bluing from the gun.
For one thing, I'm not finding some of the parts I want, and don't really know where to start looking.

I am doing a rebuild on an older SA Loaded myself.  I got my parts from MidwayUSA and Brownells.  Midway and Brownells both sell blueing remover so just search around between those two and you should get everything you need.

Post pics of your pistol also I can give you better recommendations on it.

I have several spur hammers that I removed from various 1911s. Some are parkerized, some are polished. I also have an arched main spring housing with a lanyard loop, but it is stainless steel and has the Springfield safety lock thingy.

If you want a hammer and the housing, send me an address and they are yours.

Since you are planning to parkerize your pistol, the best method for removing the bluing is to have it bead blasted.

Here is a link to a parts vendor. I have only made one order with them. The order was shipped quickly, filled accurately, and the parts were better than expected. http://www.sarcoinc.com/cgm.html  (for some reason the board isn't allowing me to make the link hot)

OK, I've done a little looking, and I'm confused on some issues.
The first one is going to sound really dumb, but "in the white" means no finish of any kind, and not anything fancy i should know about.

The second is I was looking for hammers and found a "tuning Kit" from Cylinder and Slide, but it's $134.00.  That seems like a lot, and I was wondering if all that is necessary for a good trigger, and if the company had a good reputation.  I also saw a spur hammer for $30 bucks from Swenson, and with the huge spread in cost, I'm not sure

The third is what considerations need to be taken when re-finishing a barrel regarding the chamber and inside the barrel?  I am worried that there shouldn't be parkerizing inside, and want to know how that is avoided.

The Fourth is I was looking at a Kart barrel, and was wondering if that would be the way to go with this.

Last (for now) is that I'm looking on Midwayusa.com at Novak Tritium sights, and it says in the notes that for a Springfield Arms gun to use the .225" front sight, but all the sights are shown to be the same height in the description and show different depth.  They have a .225" depth one, but I'm not sure.  Also, and this more than likely is a bad idea, but would it be feasible to re-finish the sights in a parkerizeing?  I would call on this but I'm in Iraq, so i cant right now.

All input is valuable, and appreciated!

in the white, means unfinished carbon steel.   no bluing or similar  finish.

C&S are great parts.
I've only ever seen swenson thumb shield safeties.

Your going to need to plug the barrel, if your going to do this work yourself.   Your also going to need a carbon steel barrel to park.  Stainless cannot be parked.

Old saying, you get what you pay for, very true when it comes to aftermarket 1911 parts.

Novack, Heine, Wilson, Ed Brown, EGW, C& S, Dawson, and a few other all make great aftermarket gear for a 1911.
