Picked one of these up the other day as a project gun (have other 1911's).  Trying to keep this one as basic USGI - like as possible, but the sights have to go.  My eyes are just to old for USGI sites.

Question concerns the front sight.  Obviously staked in, but is it a narrow tenon or large?  I was assuming narrow but was looking at it last night and now I'm not so sure.

If my memory serves me correctly they should be a narrow tenon.  Unless RIA has changed it should be narrow.

Agreed, though it shouldn't matter since you should just get Novak cuts and be done with it...

Normally I would agree with this, but I have 1911's already set up like that.  This is more of retro  build.   I even put Keyes Fibre WWII grips on it.

Which I would do, except my photography equipment is even more retro than my firearms.

Yes, I still buy film.

I replaced the sights on my Rock Island Armory MS with these from MGW.  It is indeed a narrow tenon.

Now I can see the sights.
