I have a springer WWII spec 1911. The sights are mil spec, I want to put a nice set of 3 dot target sights. Any recommendations? Are there any with the current cuts? I don't want the gunsmith to have to do additional cuts to the gun to save installation costs.
Thanks |

Thanks ...then the 3 dots from SA wont fit your requirements...the front sight tang is larger than the issue.....youre thinking about this with a false economy...send it to SA let them do it for a nominal cost and be done..... |

You could call Springfield and get their Mil Spec sights pretty cheap. They're 3 dot and a little larger than your current GI sights. I'm thinking of doing the same thing for mine. Will the MilSpec sights fit in the cuts on their GI model? the rear will ..the front needs to be relieved and restaked...read my first reply |

I spoke with Springfield and they said it would cost $65. Turn around time is 2-4 weeks. Sending it tomorrow! You might since you are sending it to them have them cut dovetails on it. Then you can throw Novak cut sights on it. Plus the novak dovetail front side stays on better then the staked. |

the Novak cut just allows you to put in Novak sights...you will be just fine with your choice...Springfield will set you up nicely...
Your getting the Mil Spec higher profile blade type sights installed???...Novak is just a maker of popular sights that are dovetailed into your slide (after the dovetails are cut)... Bill |
