| I have heard nothing but good things about this 1911, yet the price is a bit low. I own a Kimber UC2 .45 and wanted to purchase the dedicated .22lr for training purposes. I bought the .22lr AR15 upper for the same reason, now Im thinking of making it a combo since the .45 ammo is still expensive. Any bad ratings/issues I should know about before I take the plunge? |

The Chiappa isn't really a 1911. It just sort of resembles one. Kimber makes a rimfire that is more like the real thing. Thats the answer I was looking for and not looking for. The kimber rimfire packs a price. haha. Im stuck between a rock and a hard place. I wish someone in the median price range like Taurus would sell a dedicated .22lr 1911. |

I bought a Rock Island Armory and then bought an Advantage arms conversion kit and have been totally satisfied. I'd recommend buying a new or used 1911 (RIA, Springfield, Norinco, Taurus, Auto Oridinace) then buying a 1911 conversion kit. At least if you go this route you can get your money back if you decide to sell later.

I think i may look around in the used classified's. Thanks for the input. |

The Chiappa is based upon the Bruni 8mm blank firer made in italy. So it is indeed made out of a fairly non robust alloy
As mentioned it does, from a distance, look like a 1911. But the grip safety is fake, not a single part is even vaguely interchangable and the quality is sketchy. I'd at least wait to see how the GSG pans out. |

The main difference is the shape and size of the ejector. Off hand I think Ciener and Wilson are the only conversion currently made for the commander. I noticed Midway had Ciener conversions in stock for the commander. At least if you get a poor quality Ciener from Midway you can send it back for a refund. I wouldn't buy a Ciener directly from Ciener. Ciener has no customer service whereas Midway does. |
