Initial trip to the range with my new piece-for those who are interested

Target was silhouette (spelling) target at approx 10 yards

Started off with 230 grain ball Winchester white/green box ammo.  Consistently hit 7 to 8 oclock 5 to 8 inches low of the x-ring.   Moved to head shots and saw similar results.
First 50 rounds-had one FTF at the very last round.  Previous 49 rounds went in smooth with no problems.   No FTE

After that box-replaced targets and shot with my glock .27 (40 cal) just to make sure things were okay.  They were with that piece so I went and bought another box of .45 for my 1911.  This time it was 185 grain flat nose Winchester white/green box.

Replaced targets and saw more of the same results.  However, as I progressed through the box, my shots began to hit at the 6 oclock position pretty consistently.  Then I moved to head shots and was striking at 6 oclock nearly every shot.  This improved my confidence b/c I knew this thing was supposed to be on at 25 yards with a 6 oclock hold.  1 FTF again on the last round.  Not sure what was up with that.  No FTE

Think I just need more trigger time b/c I know I was flinching on some of the shots.  Will be replacing the sights with Novaks.  However the booth was dark so that didn't help things.

Anyway, there you have my initial report.  Recoil for that lightweight model isn't a problem although I have 0 experience with a full size 1911.  I carry glock 23 .40 cal for work and have shot the daylights out of it at the range.

I did take the 1911 home and break it down, cleaned it, and lubed it up good with white lithium grease before I even fired it.  I wanted to be familiar with it and lube it up good due to the metal on metal contact.

My goal is to become very proficient with this piece.

Think I'll keep er.

For some reason if you've got even a hint of a flinch, lightweight commander style 1911s will bring it to light. You may also be used to having your wrist in a lower position since you're accustomed to the Glock. More range time will smooth it out - never a bad thing.

Congrats on your purchase, now get us some pics!
