Looking at possibly getting an upper in .40 cal for my Springfield. I have three names in mind Caspian, STI, and Fusion. Price wise they are all close. Quality of the Caspian is a no brainer, neither is STI, but the Fusion I am not familiar with. What I do like about it is that it has no markings on the slide from what I can tell. The Caspian markings are tolerable but honestly I don't care for the STI marking that much.

All the ashetics aside what do you folks think is best slide choice?

I used Caspian on 3 of my 4 builds, on the 9mm i used sti.

The sti was the only one that dropped right on the rails.  If I was to do over I'd get the Caspian.

eta for a little extra you can get a Caspian with no markings.

If you order an STI slide from Dawson Precision or Shooters Connection you can order it with or without markings, and a number of sight cuts and slide serrations.  Just call and ask, as they sometimes don't list all the options on-line.

Great help so far!
The Fusions look awesome but Caspian seems to be the winner as of now.
Where is the best place / price to get a Caspian slide?

Caspian. Gary Smith knows what he is doing too, and has thousands of examples to show for it.

I would vote for this. STI products are top of the line and Dave Dawson is one of the best businessmen, shooter, and overall gentleman that i have ever dealt with. I will be using him for ALL of my 1911 needs from now on.

I drove 3 hours in a bad thunderstorm on monday from Houston to North Austin to pick up some parts from his place and get two minutes of his expert advice. While he was talking to me Jodd (MOTHERFRIKKIN!!!) Jarrett called him on his cell phone and he answered it and said "Yeah i can talk about that later, yeah i can do that for you but im busy with a customer right now, I'll talk to you later, bye."

That shows some real customer service and concern for the regular guy when somebody hangs up on one of the best competitive shooters in the world to help a new customer.

BTW, im sure Mr. Jarrett didnt mind, they sounded like they were on pretty good terms, being that Mr Dawson tuns all of Todd's guns.
