Well its time to replace the recoil springs on both my Kimber Ultra Carry, and my Kimber Tactical Pro II.

I was looking at the Kimber Spring Tune Up Kit from MidwayUSA, it has the recoil spring, as well as two other springs.

Does anyone have any expierience with this product?  Or any advice on changing out the recoil springs?  This is a first for me, so I thought I'd ask here for help

Who makes the springs? If it's Wolff then they are good to go.

I use either Wolff or ISMI springs, for 5 inch guns. any where from 9 to 16 pounds depending on what gun is getting the spring.

The springs are made by Kimber.

This may be a dumb question, but how do i determine what weight spring for which gun?

45 acp gov, 16 pound is std.

I have a few custom 1911 type firearms that take different pound springs.

my 9mm open gun is 9 - 10
my 40 ltd gun is 12 - 14
my ss 9mm is 12- 10.

when I use my 45 acp reloads I run a 14.

You can check Wolff gunsprings they have the correct info on what spring is needed for what firearm.

eta your springs are sold by kimber. Some other manufacture winds the material to make the spring.

I very seriously doubt Kimber makes ANY springs, in fact, I'd bet almost no firearm manufacturer makes springs because it's so specialized and it would be far cheaper to just buy them from a spring manufacturer. Probably they are just rebranded ones, it's pretty common.

Don't have proof but think that Wolff springs are what Kimber uses.

With the shorter guns you need to replace them often.  On my Kimber Pro that I had years ago I was replacing them at 1,000 rounds.  I would contact Wolff and see what they reccomend as far as spring weight.  I think I was using 22 pound springs in my Pro, however, it has been eight years since I had that pistol, so I am not sure.
