| How often do you rotate/replace your carry mags? I do mine once a year and I only keep my carry mags loaded, the rest are kept unloaded. |

Only cracked feed lip've seen was on a used colt commander that came with the gun. I still use the magazine for range use as it still functions 100%.
My wilsons have been getting dropped on the ground (USPSA) use since 1998 and the mag bodys are still good to go. I am on my 3rd or 4th set of springs. |

Okay, so I take it no issues with cracked/splitting feed lips?
I have a WWI GI magazine running fine, as well as a pre-war Colt magazine and about four WWII Gi magazines. All work fine in original condition. Only cracked feed lip I have seen on a decent quality magazine was on a 1956 built magazine from a Sistema Colt. Great magazine - good steel, pinned bases, strong follower - same as a pre-war Colt magazine. It spent 40 years in continuous military use so I didn't see a big issue with it finally cracking. Thing is, it still works fine and feeds LSWC as well as HP without a hiccup (original spring, too). The crack is tiny and the quality steel didn't change shape at all. So it's still in use, actually. Just buy quality magazines. Colt is a good place to start. For other magazines that wear out, I keep Tripp "Super 7" kits on hand with new ISMI springs and Tripp hybrid followers. |
............ I don't. Just the springs.
