[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Unlimited Budget (Page 1 of 2)

| If you had an unlimited amount of money to spend on ONE 1911, what would you buy? What in you're mind would be the finest 1911 in terms of accuracy, reliability, and durability that money could buy? |
| Id want Springfield Armory to start to build a Pro but leave off the rollmarks and screw the paint job I want polished flats and bluing. Go with 25lpi checkering, drop the magwell and ambi-safety, I'll take a Kings single side, swap grip safeties for a Brown and change the hammer to a Berryhill Commander ring style. Oh and a few little superfluous things, flush cut the muzzle and "french" the dustcover into the slide or whatever they call it. |
| If I had an unlimited budget I'd make my own steel in a hand built furnace in my garage. I'd cut every piece myself from this steel, using only hand tools. I'd drill and refine my own oil for lubrication. I'd blue it in the kitchen sink, then get a new kitchen. I'd take it to a priest and have it blessed, and it would be the most beautiful, most accurate 1911 to ever exist. John Moses Browning himself would rise from his grave and say "I failed!" |

SVI does some amazing things with a .45, if I lived in a country where you could only own 1 handgun it would be an SVI. Seriously? I'd own a Glock 17. Is there a website for SVI? I googled and only found airsoft toys under that name. SVI/Infinity Firearms |

Since I have two guns in Heinie's shop...I'm gonna have to go with Stan Chen.

Nighthawk Enforcer with rail and Novak Tritium sights, with extra pre-tuned extractor and a second threaded barrel with bushing already fit and including a thread adaptor. Finish would be matte Diamond Black with black or grey VZ Operator grips. As long as I'm on it, one set of each spare part for the internals pre-fit where necessary. Naturally I'd need some good leather and a light/laser combo to go with it, and I could use more mags since I only have about a dozen. If I ever win the lottery I'll get two of these, one without the rail.
I had looked at building my own pistol from a Caspian frame and slide, and when I got done calculating it all out it was this exact pistol. What I really like about this pistol is that it has the integrated mag well and the integrated plunger tube. I also like the look of the beveled barrel crown cut flush with the bushing. |

I'll second that. I have a para built by John and love it.

I'd get John Jardine to build me a one of a kind and pay extra to never have a duplicate exist. http://www.jardinescustom.com/april2003photos/showoffTwoTonek.jpg http://www.jardinescustom.com/april2003photos/resized25/TwoToneSlidetop.jpg http://www.jardinescustom.com/april2003photos/resized25/TwoToneevealedBarre.jpg http://www.jardinescustom.com/april2003photos/resized25/TwoTonerecieverunder.jpg |

I would go to the Glock factory and DEMAND they build me a re-production of a 70 series Colt. All metal and steel with no polymer. I would want the words "1911 Glock" on the slide.
Don't get me wrong, I love 1911's and worshop John Moses Browning, but I want a Glock made 1911. I am sure that would cost alot of money to make them build me one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
|
If it were me shopping, I would have Stan Chen, Ned Christiansen, Tim Brian, Dave Williams at Springfield Custom or possibly John Harrison build me one. I have been impressed with Dave Erickson and Dave Berryhill too. That is my wishlist of smiths I'd like to have a pistol done by. There are plenty of other smiths that do fantastic work, don't get me wrong. The ones I posted have impressed me through the years with their work and more.
That's my opinion. I wish I had the unlimited budget to order one from each and every one of these guys. I like my gun collection to date, but if I had a sweet machine from any one of these guys, I'd be a happy guy. Take care, Bob |

colt SN #25468. Man-o-man that would be the one to own. A man can dream can't he?
