How do you like it is it better than other ie colt, kimber etc.

I would say that a Colt or Kimber isn't even in the same league as Wilson. That being said, you can always drop off a Colt with any one of the gunsmiths out there and customize it to the level or above a Wilson. Don't forget Nighthawk and Volkmann too.

A good friend of mine does, and I can tell you there is no better 1911. Its only built by like one of 3 gunsmiths and they will do whatever you want to it. Id say its better than having a Colt or Springfield worked into something just because the the frame and slide is a much better foundation to start off.

Its the berries, but its atleast $3495 to start.

That's one thing I was really wondering about too, is that if the slide and frame alone were that much better to warrant me just buying one his complete pistols rather than trying to have a colt built up into what I wanted.  Is that pistol using a series 70 or 80 firing system?

Sorry Boss but I am gonna have to disagree with you, I would take a YoBo, Morris, Berryhill, etc. anyday over a Wilson. Tailor made to my specs and I'm not buying that the frame and slide makes that much of a difference. We both know one of these gunsmiths make the slide fit to the frame like butter.

I'm pretty sure the Wilson's use the Series 70 system.

They dont use anything but a good old 1911A1 type safety system. No Series 80 or Schwartz, just the way JMB intended them. Seriously the Supergrade Wilsons are almost magical, I really wish I could afford one myself.

Yeah, to start theyre smooth but Ive never seen any fit pistol last outside of one thats been welded up/remilled or uses the AccuRail system. I know that a rattle trap will still shoot but theres something to me about a 5k pistol rattling around. Now if you have one of these guys build off a Baer frame and slide........

ETA You do know only the best work on the Supergrade lineup right? You might even get one built by Bill Wilson.

You know, I see where you are coming from, but I think that would be limited to customizing, say,  a RIA, SA Mil-spec, Armscor, etc. I have seen some comparable fit from customs and Wilsons. Hell, the only pimped out custom I have is a Bob Marvel STI 2011. The slide to frame fit is exemplary to say the least.

I will say this though, it is much nicer to get an outstanding 1911 from the get go than having to wait a year for someone to work on your Colt.

I've had my Tactical Supergrade just over year and have put roughly 2,500 rounds through it.  Other than a few mag related issues, it's been pretty much flawless.  With that said, I would have to agree with your comment pertaining to pistols from guys like Ted Yost, John Harrison and Jason Burton, just to name a few.  I would give my left nut to have a pistol built by Jason.  The attention these guys give to a project goes far beyond any semi-custom build from the likes of Wilson or Les Baer.

Someday...

For $5k, the frame/slide fit had BETTER damn well be welded up.

They use an "Accurizor" barrel and a collet bushing ?

Just send a Supergrade to Marc Morris.  Then you would have a gun!
