I bought a Wilson a little over a year ago because I wanted a customish 1911, and was too impatient to wait for a custom build, or for one with the exact features that were important to me.  Those features are, Novak type sights, no front cocking serrations.  I'm okay with or without checkering provided its at least 30lpi.

I got my Wilson SPF, and have a lead on a NIB Les Baer TRS without the front cocking serrations for $1815.

Yesterday, I found an EE add on another forum for a Colt Series 70 Reproduction with Colt's "O" package for $1050.

Here's my dilemma.  I like the Baer because its a Baer, tight fit, no MIM, and the reputation.  I like the Colt because its nostalgic, aside from that, I don't know much about Colt as far as customer service, out of box reliability, etc.

Both guns are blued finish, the Baer has an extended thumb release and checkering on the front strap and MSH.  The Colt does not.  Both guns have nicely fit beavertail grip safeties.

I'm looking at these guns as a duty weapon, so reliability is first, with accuracy second.

Can someone please give me some info on what Colt's "o" package entails, as well as some opinions?

Thanks

O Package: Novak Rear Sight, Dovetail Front Sight, Upswept Grip Safety, Dehorned, Refinished.

That is all.

I love my Colt, great 1911.  Get the TRS.

I should add that I plan on using a S70 for a full house custom.  To bring that S70 with the O package up to the TRS level would take how much money?

Night Sights.
Checkering.
Slide to frame fit.
Bevel Mag Well.
Polished/Throated Barrel.
Slim Grips/Bushings.
Flare Ejection Port.
Refinish.

I believe it would cost more than 800 to have all of this done to the colt.

That Colt is a very nice piece.

Get the TRS. The quality out of the box, even some Custom Shop Colt's has been rather dubious recently.

Thanks for the replies.  I'm going to go with the TRS.
