I am NOt a fan becuase they degrade and fall apart after so many rounds and can jam your gun up, also sometimes in some guns it will not let the slide hold open on the last round...

now if you ONYL use your gun for compitition, then maybe, but as for a carry gun or defence or bedside gun NO WAY, IMHO at least...

+1  I've used them off and on and I have had the problem of slide not locking back after the last round is fired.  Maybe tweaking the recoil spring would solve that issue, but I didn't think they made that much of a difference anyway.

I use them in my Limited guns.   They have never caused me a problem and I know many top shooters are also using them.

They don't belong in a gun used for self defense.

This.

...and for that reason I don't use them in any gun I own.

If JMB had thought the 1911 needed it he'd have put one in.

those types of polymers did not exist in 1911 does the 1911 need one, nope, but 2 or 3 and some cut coils can really change how the 1911 feels in the hands.  Brian Enos use to run his 1911's when he shot for Dillon years ago with a few buffers installed.

 Alright, I'll skip this then.

I use them in my SA Mil-spec. I also change them out regularly to prevent them from locking up the gun. They don't normally fit nor work with the smaller 1911s.

Ask just about any reputable self-defense trainer or 1911 guru,  and they will tell you they have no place on a carry gun. I use one on my original 1918 vintage 1911 for plinking, but that's it.

Some people hate them.

I have a Wilson Combat CQB that came with one from the factory.  I have not had any problems with the gun in over 5,000 rounds.  I also change it out about every 800 to 1,000 rounds.  They are cheap, and I don't want it breaking, or wearing out in the gun.

Wilson Combat makes an excellent 1911, and inclueds/uses the shok buffers in them.

I am sure that there must be a reason that Wilson Combat uses them, and they cannot be junk, like everyone has said.  Wilson Combat is a top tier 1911 builder, and feels a need for them, and is able to get the guns to run great with them installed.

Sure there is, he designed them, and by including them in his guns, he gurantees the sell of a whole bunch to folks who think they need them.

Just as Wilson sells extended slide stops. People want them, even though Wilson does not like them.
