Are there any disadvantages to removing the Schwartz safety?  Seems removing it allows the firing pin channel to get dirty quicker but other than that is there anything else to worry about (mechanically)?

"I see your Schwartz is as big as mine!"

Actually this is just a tag to read the responses. I'm curious as well.

Isn't it Swartz?

Mine is out of my Eclipse and hasn't caused a problem yet. But then I've only got about 300 rounds down it. I don't see how it can cause any problem other than possible dirt in the firing pin channel.

You can also install a 70 series firing pin and bypass it. Thats the easy way.

There may be repair and warranty issues

No problems.  Just drift out the rear sight and drop out the parts.

Alternatively you can disable it by installing a pre-series 80 firing pin, since the rear sights are sometimes a bit "obstinate" to remove.

This by far is the simple and easy fix. I fired many thousands of rounds with no issues whatsoever.
