This is a newb question, but i recently purchased a Baer Custom Concept III  and was looking through the catalog that came with the gun.  They sell 6inch barrels and i was wandering if there is any to swap out the 6 incher for the five but still use the 5 inch slide????  Or if i would have to have a custom barrel made????  Just kinda curious.

I would post pics of the gun, but my camera took a crapper.

My friend has a 5" Colt with a 6" barrel. looks weird but shoots great.

I don't think so. The area of the barrel behind the bushing is a reduced diameter (on my new PII anyway).

I think it would require a fitted 6" slide.

I think nowlin makes a "drop in" barrel.  But either way you should have it fitted.  You can do that though.  The only way to suppress a 1911 is to put a longer barrel in there.

Looks like it can be done, but looks kind of goofy:

Is it me, or does that look like more than an inch sticking out???   Reason i ask this question is due to the fact that i like the idea of having a 6inch barrel, but i really don't care for how an 11 looks with a 6inch slide...
