I went shooting this past weekend and had a misfire, the round was partialy dempled. It was like the hammer didnt strike it hard enough. could it be from me not holding the grip safty tight enough? i actualy put the round back in the gun and fired it.

Make and model of 1911, brand/type of ammo ?

The hammer dropped, and your safety is function as it should then it was not your grip (or the grip safety).

Hard primer.  Slide not fully in battery.  High primer.  Weak main spring/FP spring combo.

If the primer was high (yes, even on factory ammo it happens) the first time the FP hits it the primer is seated deeper.  The second time it fires.

A few years ago I loadded a few rounds with high primers on purpose.

A 1911 with 18 recoil spring will seat the primer in enough to function, where a glock 21 (std factory gun) will not. This worked with both my kimber and Colt enhanced 5" guns.

if it dimpled the primer then I think it's safe to say that the FPS was working correctly with the GS...I'd say hard primer.  Happen with other ammo or any other time?

one other time with the same ammo. sounds like a ammo issue now that I think about it.

You NEED to have the firing pin block assembly checked, it may be out of time.
