Buy it.  I paid just under 1,000 for my 1911, and it had an A1 slide, slide stop, etc... that I'm replacing to get it back to all original... 1,500 isn't a bad price.  I typically see similar 1911A1's to the one you described for 2,000 or more. YMMV

1922?

1911 procurement ended in 1918 (for Colt at least); there was a small batch of transition pieces in 1924, and again in 1937.

What's the serial number of the piece? Should be 6 digit..? Only need the first 3 or so...

Blue Book indicates that a Model 1911 made between 1919 and 1925 is valued as follows:
98%     $3500
80%     $1500
60%     $1000

220 indicates manufacture in 1918, not 1922...

Depending on condition and originality, it could be worth a bit (rare shipment, etc) or just as much as a shooter ($500, maybe?)

It's all in the details...

Edited to add - for that price, the gun better have one hell of a provenance, because with only %5 or %10 of it's blueing left, there's no way it's worth more than 800 without some kind of serious credentials, and even that's pushing it..
