Background:  My Delta Elite came with one Colt-branded Delta Elite magazine.  I have 2 Chip McCormick Shooting Star 10mm mags.

Last night, for a test, I loaded up a Chip McCormick .45 Power Mag with 10mm rounds and tried it out.  It worked great with both the American Eagle JFP as well as the Hornady 180gr XTP.

I checked the search function and haven't seen any posts about this, but do people commonly shoot 10mm using .45 mags or is there a potential problem I don't know about?

Thanks,

kk7sm

No people do not use 45ACP mags. They use 10mm 1911 mags.  CDNN had a pretty good deal on them a month or two ago.

I have 9 mags of various quality makes. One of them is an original Colt Delta Elite mag and it works the best. I'm using a Kimber btw.

Like I said, I've been shooting it with 10mm mags before, but just tried it out.  Mine's a Colt and it works great with Colt 10mm mags, Chip McCormick 10mm mags, and apparently Chip McCormick .45 mags.

So far, it hasn't failed to feed anything, so I guess I can't say one mag is better than the other.

Mostly it was curiosity since I already have 10mm mags I'm shooting it with.

I bought two Metalform 8-rd mags for my Delta Elite from Brownells, and they work fine.

If I were to buy more magazines, I'd get 9-rd Cobramags mags from Tripp.
