Hey guys, any good recommendations on a good 9mm 1911?  The title is slightly misleading, I'm looking for a good model for carry purposes, so if it comes down to a 3" barrel so be it.

Here are a few Iv'e looked at:
-Springfield EMP
-STI Ranger
-STI Guardian
-STI Escort
-Kimber Aegis

Any others?

Springfield EMP's, while a very nice carry gun, are not "commander-sized".

I guess I should rephrase....officer sized too.  Do those tend to suffer from the same reliability issues of 3" 1911's also?

I've been thinking about a commander sized 9mm 1911 lately myself.
I want a dedicated carry pistol and my current sidearm, a Kimber 5" in .45acp might be a bit much for every day carry.

I've looked at a few STI guns and the Springfield EMP too but I keep coming back to Kimber.
I was at the local gun shop last week and they had a Kimber Tactical Pro II in 9mm for just under 1300.

Lets just say if I had the money to blow and a purchase permit it would be in a holster on my belt right now.

When I hear Commander, I think of a 4.25" gun with a bushing.
I would like to see Colts make more in 9mm. I would consider one if they did. Meanwile, I think the KZ is something I would like to see even with it being so far removed from what I am used to, I still am interested in at least checking one out.

You should take a look at the CZ Dan Wesson PM-9.  Very well made with excellent slide to frame fit and under $1000.  It's currently available in a 5" Gov't size.
