safeties require precise fitting for proper fitting, operation, and safetiness...i'd take it to a smith

I replaced one on a Kimber of mine, just to try it, and it worked out fine, but my carry Kimber's safety has been fit by a smith.

I would purchase the Kimber Safety yourself then take it to a smith......

Since Kimber will not warranty the work, and you are going to spend good money on good labor, why spend good money on a lesser part? I suggest you do NOT buy a Kimber safety, unless you have some finish option that wouldn't match with another part. Since it's on your dime, I would go with a better, more substantial part such as a King's, Brown, or Wilson safety.
