What's the consensus on these? I know people avoid the externals from the Kimbers like the plague, was just curious what you guys thought about S&W 1911's. I'm looking at the 4.25" 1911pd and was wondering about the overall reliability of the gun.
Also, I saw 53vortec's thread right below but I think we're talking about different things. |

I know that one opinion isn't exactly "consensus," but I have a buddy with a S&W 1911 Gunsite Edition, the Scandium-framed commander-size pistol, and he loves it. Hasn't had a problem with the external extractor, despite how some excoriate it as the vilest blasphemy against JMB's design. |
