A year or two ago I sold my SW1911 to my brother and now I'm getting it back in a trade.  I really liked this pistol a lot, even with the big laser etching on the slide (it is a high 7000 serial number IIRC).  One of the things I would like to change when I get it back is the recoil spring guide rod.  I would like to replace the extended guide rod with a traditional recoil spring set up (I don't know the proper terminology ).  I believe I can just drop the new parts in, is that correct?  Whose parts would you use?  I'm leaning toward Ed Brown parts.  Thanks for any help.

Ed Brown or Wilson parts would be excellent choices, but I believe you should be prepared to do some fitting on virtually any 1911 part, if you want a properly-functioning pistol.

Can't go wrong with Ed Brown.

Would these parts drop in or will fitting be required?

Total drop in parts. Recoil spring guide and plug.

Ed Brown parts are great but I prefer EGW. Both available thu Brownells and the whole setup of rod and plug will run about $30. Put a new spring in at the same time.
