Did a search and could not find any previous post. Does anyone have any input or have you used the Wolff conventional or variable recoil springs?

Thanks Matt

ETA: To clarify I know wolff makes great springs, is one better than the other?

I have used Wolff springs, but have never used variable recoil springs.
I don't think you will get a definetive aswer of which one is better.
I have thought about trying one myself but I'm not sure what strength spring to get for a full size 1911.

I'm sure somewhere there's a valid reason for variable springs. But to me, they're a solution looking for a problem, IMO.

All my 1911s use standard Wolf springs. I tend to run a bit higher than OEM rating, I run 18-20lbs in my Govt models.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe someday I will get a variable spring and test it.

I've always used conventional Wolff springs in my 1911.

Always used 21 lb. main (hammer) spring and 16 or 17 lb. recoil spring.
I change the recoil spring every +/- 3,000 rounds and the main spring every +/- 10,000 rounds.

Few years ago I switched over to ISMI springs.
Same 21 lb./16lb. combo but I've had the same springs for past 3+ years and springs still test the same (force and length) as the day I put them in.  Great springs.
