I saw a really nice stainless Colt Combat Commander at the gunshop over lunch. I was wondering what a decent price on such a pistol would be? It appears to have been carried but never shot. There is a dandy idiot mark on it, but that is about all in the way of issues.

First I would say check and make sure that it's not nickle...been confused with SS before.

You say that it's in a gunshop...not priced????

Hopefully someone from your area will chime in 'cause in my area they range from 650-950 American dollars!!!  Don't know if many have sold on the upper end but haven't been back to the Gander Mt that I saw it at.  They had a new blued one next to it for $100.00 LESS.

The idiot mark is not good, especially if nickle, and could be a bargining point.  Look it over really good making sure sure that Bubba's only doing was the idiot mark...but that might be just the start.

Lots depends on how bad you want it and how bad the seller wants to sell it.  HTH, Preston

It is most definitely SS. It is priced. I just wanted to know what the going rate was.

I'd give about $600-650 for it.

Is it Series 80?

They were asking $620. It did not say Series 80 anywhere on the gun.

Lock back the slide, and look underneath the rear of the slide for a round plunger about the size of a pencil eraser.

Thanks. As you can tell, I'm not a commercial Colt guy.

I'm not much of an expert, either.

Chances are very good that it will have the Series 80 parts.

Personally, I'd buy it whether it was S80 or not, but I'm weird like that. At any rate, it'd be nice to know before plunking down the cash.

If you are sure it's stainless, you can be sure as... sugar that it's Series 80 firing system. Without the box it's very low on the totem pole of desirability. If you can get it in the $600 range, you did pretty well. If they hold out for more than $650, I'd pass. For $150 more, you can get a much more desirable one.
