So for my first 1911 I got a Springfield Armory Loaded model used from a member of these boards. Said he'd owned it since new which he got 4 or 5 years ago and only put around 150 rounds through it. It looks to be in great shape other then the 1911 idiot mark. It has an NM serial number and doesnt appear to be a brazil made frame which is great to me. Has the original box and all the paperwork

Looks like I got a solid American gun at a good price of $615 shipped.

Any suggestions as to what mags to pick up?

I plan on purchasing 230gr GDHP for defence. From what I've read here they seem to be the prefered round and the +P is unneccesary.

I also plan on feeding it a steady diet of 230grain ammunition. Should I swap out to a different recoil spring to tame this gun, or the stock spring enough?

thanks alot guys and of course heres some pics from the seller.

Standard pressure 230 GDHP's are a solid choice. I like Wilson Combat 47D magazines.

About the springs, I'd stick with the factory weight. I'd just swap them out for new ones.

Leave stock for awhile, buy ammo, shoot, shoot some more, then shoot some more, THEN decide what you'd possibly like to do.

With only 150 rounds thru it, I'd do NOTHING unless you have a problem.

Nice buy.

#1 - Ditch the two piece FLGR for a GI style recoil spring guide and plug.

#2 -  At 3,000 rounds replace the OEM recoil spring with a wolf 18 1/2lb recoil spring and accompanying firing pin spring.

#3 - Enjoy.

Nice looking gun. Wow, someone really did scratch that thing up. Also, +1 to whatever SGB said.
