I finally bought my first 1911, a Kimber Pro Covert II. I dont really want to modify the gun at all, im not really into competition, but I do need some more 7 round magazines, and some type of holster to go with this thing, preferably a low profile leather one.

Also, is it OK to run Federal HST +P through this thing? I would think it could handle just about anything.

Also, what do you guys think of the gun in general (be nice, I already bought it :D)

Here is also a shameless pic from the GB auction:

a nice milt sparks or com-tac,sounds expensive but run at least 100rnds of what you plan to carry thru it. Nice weapon hope you have good luck with it. get some 8 rnd mags,Wilson or Chip McCormick,I also like the Kimber tac-pro mags...

Good looking Kimber. It needs lots of food I always put 500+ of 230 fmj down the barrell to break it in. Then look at the expensive ammo. It should eat anything you got.

Forgot this part I use Kimpro mags or Shooting stars. Some like Wilsons. Just get good ones. The cheap ones will work at first but fall off fast.

Any quality factory ammo should be fine. For holsters, you'll find a LOT of fans here of the IWB Versa Max 2 from Milt Sparks (I'm in that camp). Other popular IWB options include the CTAC and MTAC from Comp Tac and the McDaniel II from Andrews leather. There are other such as the Crossbreed that have a following, but the first three probably will cover 80% or more of the recommendations you'll get here.

As to the pistol, Kimber has sort of fallen from favor here lately (some QC and design issues). Looks like that one has an internal extractor (I think Kimber discontinued using the Externals?). That's a good thing (true to the original design). There was a recent thread on Kimber's that was very positive, might boost your feelings to seek it out and read it.

Overall, should work out well for you. Wouldn't be my choice, but that's why there are so many variations to choose from.

Make sure to break it in thoroughly (a few hundred rounds, probably hard ball), and wring it out with a couple hundred rounds of your chosen carry ammo before trusting your life to it (some pistols are particular about what they'll digest-there are 3-5 good solid choices for carry ammo- find one it likes and feed it).

Congrats on the new pistola!
