It's a RIA 1911 (.45acp)
Looks very similiar to what I shot in the Army back in the 80's.  I've been looking for a nice plinker, but didn't want to pay top $$$.  This was $380 OTD, I thought that was a good deal.  Now it's time for a range trip.

I'm looking for some different grips as I'm not too fond of the smooth ones it came with.

on the gun!

As for grips, check out Ajax Grips out of TX. Their web site is pretty good as well, IMO. Also check some ads out of something like "American Handgunner" for some nice non-slip versions. With your guns lack of frontstrap checkering, shooting it well in the summer with sweaty hands will need some "textured" grips, IMO.

Looks good.

I just bought its High Standard brother.  I wanted a pre-WWII looking 1911.

www.brownells.com sells a ton of 1911 grips.

I have been wanting one of these.

A friend on a car forum recently Dura-Coated his Desert tan and black. Sucker looks sweet for a $400 gun.

But how well does it shoot, sir? There's where the rubber meets the road for us old geezers.

Wow, and here I was thinking that age had nothing to do with wanting a reliable pistol.

I just wanted to mention that I once had an RIA and the sear crumbled into pieces, creating a VERY dangerous condition. Make sure you detail strip and inspect it thoroughly for any problems.

Enjoy!

So far so good, but I've only shot approx 100 rounds through it.  I used American Eagle and WWB, time to stock up on some ammo.  Here's a pic of the new grips.
