Just picked up the above mentioned 1911. Very nice gun and my first 1911. It came with the wood grips, one SS 7 rounder, belt slide holster, and magazine holster.
Before I go to the range with it what is the best ammo experiences from the hive? Any other tips for a 1911 news appreciated.
Pics comming soon.

Pick up either Wilson Combat or Chip McCormick Power Mags.

I usually use WW White Box from Walmart, it's as cheap as you're gonna find.

If you have large meaty hands, either place a band aid on the web of your shooting hand or wear a glove. The GI style beavertail is not friendly to us fat fisted guys.

CDNN has the best prices I've seen on good magazines for a 1911. They have Colt factory, Mec-Gar, and Chip McCormic. Some for as low as $8.

SGB has good advice!

I have the same make & model (& finish) of gun, and it's GREAT!

I use Chip McCormick Power Mags, and they function GREAT!!!  Another thing to look into, is the gun's case might have an order form for Springfield Armory with a discount.  Buy up a few more Springfield mags with the coupon/discount, and also buy the Wilsons or Chip McC mags...  You can never have enough QUALITY 1911 mags!

The springfield ones are decent, but I entrust my life to the Chip McC mags...

Also, to make shooting 'cheaper', cruise websites like Craigslist to maybe pick up a USED loading setup like a RCBS Rock Chucker model single-stage or something...  By loading your OWN 45 ACP ammo, and using LEAD bullets, you can save a $$TON$$ of money!

I can load 45 ACP for about $9.00 for a box of 100 rounds!  It only takes about 1 hour to load 100 to 150 rds (with a cheap single-stage), and using 230 grain Lead Round Nose bullets I can load them for 9 cents per shot!
