I just installed a set of King's (fixed) Target Sights on my Springfield G.I. Champion. The pistol consistently shoots about 6" low. Is there a way to fix that without changing the front sight? If I change it, I need a shorter sight, right?

I can't find any choice of sight heights on the King's site. Any idea where I could find another, shorter sight with a "medium tennon? Anybody know how tall my King's front sight is?

Thanks for your help.

Get a Brownells catolg, look at the listings for the different brands, Kings,Brown,Egw ect., all are listed with dimensions.

I file mine down(front sight to raise poi) to proper height, slow easy and square then cold blue.

Your King's front sight is most likely .185" high.  Like mentioned above, filing it down and cold bluing it is the easiest solution.  You can always order a shorter front sight, but that will entail either installing it yourself, or paying smith.

One easy way to file it down is using a long enough file that will go across the top of both sights.  Tape the rear of the file where it will drag against the rear sight, and tape the top of the rear sight.  Go slow, and you will only cut the front sight, hopefully keeping it flat.  Or, send it to a smith to have it milled down a little.  Good luck.

Thanks, guys, that's a big help. Seems like filing is the way to go.

Happy New Year!
