Any of you guys tried one of Taurus' 1911s?  are the dimentions the same as most spec 1911s, or are they like the AMT where parts don't always swap?

I dont know about specs and interchangeablity but I just paperd mine yesterday and was very impressed with trigger and grouping.
Average offhand group was 1.5 inch with flyer because of my inept ability
very nice compared to my SA GI-45

Its a top notch 1911 IMO its an 80 series all parts have been interchangeable so far,

I traded the safety hammer with standard WC drop in skeleton without any extra headaches.

The only issues I faced with it were the "adjustable sites" were loc tited in and were set to some one else'es preference but a punch set and a zippo solved the problem, also my grip screws were loctited into the bushings instead of the bushings into the grip but again a zippo solved the problem.

Other than that it the first run had a weak finish my blued is still present but very thin and has worn off on my grip and thumb safties, but all in all the utter reliability out of the box has made up for all of its "issues" I lost track of my round count but I think its around 5,000-8,000 using S&B, WWB, and Rem UMC Fmjs, and a couple hundred JHPs of Hornady TAPs, XTP, Federal Hydrashoks, Rem Golden sabers, and Gold dots with one ftf with a FMJ I have no idea what caused it because I went through several hundred rounds in that range session after the fact and it ran fine.

The only other comparable 1911 style in its price range with this type of quality is the STI spartan which starts at $600 with tru glo sites which im in the process of getting now.

as far as i can tell, some parts are simple and very interchangable w/ very little/no fitting (smaller parts, like hammer, springs, struts, etc)

h/w, a couple parts, such as the MSHs i tried, which did drop in in my kimbers and SAs would not fit in my PT1911; same for the grip and thumb safety, but i'll credit that problem to being the parts needing fitting

as is, imo, you are better keeping the PT1911 stock (Save changning any grips, small parts, etc)--the trigger is great, as is the safety fittings, etc

I have had mine for several months now and have not changed anything but the grips. But any 1911 mag will work in it so far I have 5 diffrent kinds and all of them work great.
