try www.m1911.org

They have a lot of good stuff on the 1911 and I think their is a tutorial on basic trigger jobs for the 1911 their.

My trigger is down to about 3lb's on a stock RIA 1911 with all original internals. Took a bit of time to polish it out properly, but it paid off in the end.

Springfield uses MIM fire control group parts that are not particularly well suited to doing a proper trigger job. Further it takes more than just polishing to do a proper and safe trigger job on a 1911.

You can however pick up a drop in kit from Cylinder & Slide that will get the job done safely.

SGB is on the money. You can do it if you want to. but I don't believe it's your best choice.

I just ordered the Tactical II hammer/sear/disconnector/sear spring/hammer spring kit from Cylinder & Slide Wednesday. Can't wait.

The SA SS Loaded I have is great, but the MIM parts suck.
