I have an itch that just needs to be scratched. I want to buy one of these 1911's. I just don't know which one yet. I would like to know which one is best and why. People who have experience is appritiated. Money is not an option. They are all relitively close in price anyway. The choices are: -Wilson Combat CQB (w/Light Rail) -Springfield Professional (w/Light Rail) -Nighthawk Custom GRP Recon -Les Baer Custom Ultimate Carry Recon Pistol Thanx in advance. |

I have a Springfield Professional and a Full House Custom Colt by Jim Stroh so if I could have anything off your list it would be.............. -Wilson Combat CQB (w/Light Rail) -Springfield Professional (w/Light Rail) -Nighthawk Custom GRP Recon with diamond black finish. -Les Baer Custom Ultimate Carry Recon Pistol |
Tiki Not exactly "my ultimate", but YMMV. I don't think there is an ultimate 1911... just the best one for the specific job. My 4" Wilson in stainless is the ultimate weapon for my needs: a truly managable, concealable CCW that can withstand the humidity of my environment. It has done that flawlessly so far. There are better choices out there for duty/range use though. So, in effect I would think the only ultimate 1911 (if one exists) would do all jobs well, but not as well as one specialized for role X, or the other specialized for role Y. This is why I always suggest that the pistol purchase follow the person's purpose. |
that's the one...if I win the lottery, I'm definitely picking one of those up |
As they say "to each his own". As far as your list is concerned, I'm with SGB on this one--Nighthawk all the way. You can also go with a full in house custom for Yost, Cylinder and Slide, etc |
Browns are a quality semi custom, but they strike me as the least popular in the market. Baer is the old classic, NH is the latest flavor, and the venerable and extremely popular Wilson offers a very similarly formatted gun as the Brown. |
Wrong. They are Chuck's very own design, the "Tier One Sight". Years ago he used to modify existing sights. But these are his own, and they are quite nice! |
Yeah, I forgot he was doing his own now. |
