I have a Charles Daly 1911 .45 ACP.

It has a LPA Adjustable rear sight that I want to replace. There's all kinds of ears and stuff sticking up in every direction waiting to take another pound of flesh each time I pull the slide.

Is there another sight similar to a Novak Lo Mount that I can install using the existing cuts? Or at least without all of the ears and sharp edges sticking out, etc.

Thanks

Assuming you have the stock GI dovetail, there are plenty of options.  Wilson, Yost-Bonitz, and Novak all make sights that fit the GI dovetail.

Can you post a pic of the rear sight from the side. One that would show the cuts made to the slide. I thought that all of the CDs were using either their GI style rear sight or a Novak.

No. It is not a Gi or Novak. It has LPA on the left side. It looks almost like a Bomar. The cuts in the slide look like that also.

I'll try to post a photo in a couple of days, maybe.

I think I might grind about 1/8 in. off the ears on either side of the sight and dehorn everything else. That probably will work but will ruin for re-sale, maybe.

Thanks guys.

Dude, you bought a Charles Daly.

Resale value is already horrible.  Might as well grind to your heart's content.

You got that right. That's why I just bought a SA loaded. Night & Day. No competition.

In a few months, perhaps Feb. or Mar. I may buy a Caspian with Novak cuts and build something based on the CD frame.

Who knows. Da shadow do.
