Does anyone have a comprehensive list of the frame/slide materials that the major manufacturers use? (i.e. forged/cast steel, aluminum, plastics etc.)

I tried the search function, but for some reason it's not working for me. Thanks.  --ST

I actually was wondering what each manufacturer used (i.e. Springfield uses cast etc)

Most all major mfr's use forged slides and frames: SA, SW, Kimber, Colt, etc.

Caspian casts their frames.  I think SIG and others use Caspian frames for some models, usually those with rails.

Just off the top of my head...

Forged: Kimber, Springfield, Rock River, Les Baer, Smith&Wesson, Ed Brown, Colt, Wilson, Most Nighthawks (I believe one of their guns uses a cast caspian frame), Taurus.

Cast: Rock Island, Charles Daly, Armscorp, STI, Caspian (they used to make some bar stock frames), Para Ordinance, Fed Ord (they made some in the 80's), Essex Arms...

If i'm not mistaken, Sigs are cast, but to be honest i'm not certain.

Did I miss any major ones?

Thanks, I was under the impression (aparently mistaken) that Kimber was cast. I think you got all the major ones.
