I bought this awhile ago used* (got an excellant deal w/ my discount) and I haven't found anyone who knows a darn thing about the V10 model.  I have been looking for spare parts as SHTF sticks in my mind, but I know this pistol needs to be maintained more than just cleaning, I have dry lube worked in the slide and barrel.  I found a few bull barrels for 1911's but nothing in the line of extra ported slides, extractors, firing pins or much else unless this stuff is all the same size and fits all current non-custom pistols.  I carry it on day to day basis and enjoy the gun very much.   I want some different sights but these don't come off without hacking it apart

Dry lube? as in graphite? Maybe that's some old gunsmithing trick that I am ignorant about, but that sounds like a baaaad idea.

As for your choice in weapons... it sounds like (at best) you are using a '68" Ford Ranchero for a SHTF bug out vehicle. Not a good stategy. Parts aren't going to be very plentiful for that platform anymore and as such, it's a bad choice for that stated purpose. If you are that concerned about SHTF, you should get a more common and appropriate model and shoot your springer in a manner that reflects it's hard to repair status. Having said that, I am fairly certain that this pistol uses must of the same parts as the other 1911s. I have trouble seeing SA spending all this $$$ on up the tooling for such an obscure footnote in its history.

Why? Dry lube isn't either a new idea or a bad one if one is in a sandy/dirty environment. Keeps oil off of one's clothes as well.

Having said that, *I* still use oil.............

Aside from the porting in the slide & barrel, all other parts are the same.

I also urge a bit of practice in nightshooting with these ported guns. Night vision becomes a moot point with the flaring from the ports. Different ammo will have different levels of flash & there's methods to minimize the loss of night vision as well.

Good luck!

800-680-6866 & ask Deb if she can get you a barrel.
Rest of the parts are the same, nothing special.

Seriously I love my V10, it's actually one of the fastest running 1911's I have, but will never be my personal choice for CCW.  It's my go to gun when I'm in a pimp my ride kind of mood.  Shoot that sucker in the pitch black just once and you'll see what we mean.  You definitely don't want to be under pressure or in a life-threatening situation the first time you do.  One load in your drawers is enough if you're not expecting that flash, you'll have 2, I guarantee it.

Guess I should have explained the dry lube its mil-tec synthetics, I have nothing but sand and dust in my region and the oil drys up in about 1 week it gets about 140 degrees in an truck w/ no A/C.
Knew about the ports and the darkness, the thing is I can't buy another handgun I have too many to begin with and only 2 of them are light enough for me to carry.

I rotate between the 1911 and a G23 in a shoulder harness under a business suite, slim line is ideal, but I'll definately take your guys' advice and shoot a few boxes of different ammo makes at night.

Maybe should consider bull barrel w/o ports for CCW
