Gents,

looking to swap out my carry piece and I'm looking for opinions on the Springer Light weight champion Operator?

5" is too large for my frame, but a 4" is just right.

I'll be buying a new Milt Sparks VMII to carry it.

Is a rail really necessary? I personally don't see much point in it for a CCW.

rail isn't necessary for my CCW piece, but this comes with one.

I looked at the Kimber commander size, but I have had rusting issues on Kimbers.

I'd like a 4" 1911 for CCW I just need pointed towards the right gun I guess.

I'd be looking at Colt Commanders, regular LW Champions, and S&Ws as well.

Steel frame, I like the Dan Wesson.
Alloy, I like the Kimber.

The Springfield is built fine, the features are just not to my taste.

I CCW a Colt Defender, been very happy with it impeccable reliability. Just an updated Officers model but it ran straight out of the box. Have a LW commander tho and I've been toying with getting one of the new finishes on the slide and CCWing that but I can't bring myself to muck up an almost perfect blued finish................yet.

I too have a Defender as my main CCW. Mine has been trouble free and it was bought used but in VERY good condition. I can recommend it to anyone for carry.
