I'm gonna buy my first 1911 in a few months and I'm trying to decide between a Kimber Warrior and a Springfield TRP Operator. The TRP is only a couple hundred more than the Warrior, so price isn't a factor. My question is which one is better and why.

I would take the Warrior or the MC Operator over the TRP Operator.

This is the style of TRP Operator that I want.

Any particular reason why the MC Operator is better?

the MC operator and warrior both have features appealing for carry

for example, the warrior and MC have what appear to be novak sights which are beveled and dehorned to prevent snagging (the same can't be said about the TRP's adjustable target sights)

the TRP has an extended rail which makes it bulkier, heavier, and less comfortable to carry, not to mention there is really no need for that long of a rail... the MC and warrior have plenty of rail to mount whatever tactical light you need.

the Kimber Warrior would be my top choice. My eclipse pro has NEVER let me down. there is a good article in the latest G&A Combat Tactics on the USMC Det 1 program and the Kimber Warrior. It's worth a read, if for nothing else, to see the history of the Warrior design and drool over the photography.

Fixed sights are better suited to this type of pistol.

TRP Operator all the way.

While I think the Warrior is likely the best Kimber currently made, I'd definitely choose the Springfield. I own an MC Operator. Outstanding shooter.

I sold my TRP Operator to buy a Warrior.  I have since sold the Warrior but the new owner (a good friend) is very pleased.

The full-length rail makes it slightly heavier, I'll admit, but I'm curious exactly how the rail makes it noticeably bulkier or harder to conceal? Feels nearly the same in the hand with slightly less muzzle flip. How is less comfortable to carry?

Warrior.

Mines been absolutely flawless out of the box minus a few small feeding issues when i first transitioned to Wilson 47D's. Ive owned it for 3 years and it feeds everything i give it and its god-damn accurate. I wasnt much of a pistol shot (or so i thought) until i started shooting the warrior. up & to that point i had only been shooting my glock's and P226. my pistol marksmanship has steadily sharpened ove the last 3 years, mostly because i have been shooting nothing but my warrior.

I do own a springfield loaded model and its just not as smooth or accurate as the warrior. Trigger is a little rougher and all parts are just a little more "sticky". Everything on my warrior is silky smooth.

This is the first trip to the range with it acouple years ago. That is 60 rounds of WWB 230 grainers at 30+ yards offhand. all 60 on the papper; More than adequate in a fighting pistol

bulkier and heavier because you are no longer the 1911 profile, your muzzle looks like a glock only more square... if you really want to reduce muzzle flip learn how to hold and shoot your 1911...

less comfortable to carry because you have an unchamfered glock size square block digging into your leg... (i typically carry IWB, thats why i said it would be uncomfortable)

Odd that you have experienced this whereas I have not. Strange.

I don't think SA makes operators with the long rail anymore so he's likely looking at the one he provided a picture of.

On topic I'm not sure if it helps but I like my MC operator.

If I had a use for a railed 1911, I would hunt down either a Springfield Milspec Operator or Loaded Operator. I would then have it built to my specs, with the parts and sights that I wanted. I relly like the YOBO version. I would also have the rail cut down to size and ball cuts on the slide. That being said, I have several 1911's that I could have a Dawson rail installed.

I would go with the MC Operator or the newer Champion Operator. I have both and they are fantastic.

I don't care for adjustable sights on a carry pistol. That cancels out the TRP for carrying.

I don't have a reason not to pick the Kimber other than I own several Springfields and love them.

See if you can shoot both before you buy and make your decision there.

Of the 3 thrown out: MC operator due to the Sights, features and looks.

Forced into the original 2: Kimber DW, for no other reason than adj sites have no place on a carry weapon.

MC operator, by a long shot.

Everyone who's had the chance to shoot mine has loved it.

Several of those people have been owners of 1911s costing WAY more.

For Carry the MC Operator..........Though I do own a TRP Operator and love it. I would not reccommend it for CCW. Its more of a serious situation type of weapon. Also a great range gun.

I'm not 21 yet so I can't get a CCW permit. The pistol will be used for open carry (legal at 18 in Kentucky), and home defense.

I don't like them either. Those, and the OD frame are the main reasons I'm leaning more towards the TRP Operator than the MC Operator.

Not the prettiest 1911 out there. All business. Kinda big and heavy for CCW. But for home defense and general range destruction one of the sweetest shooting pistols I own. Added the Dawson Precision tooless guide rod, TLR-2 and Alumagrips and the gun is now perfect. Even if I do say so myself. You will not be dissatisfied with the TRP Operator.

they felt a bit strange to me at first, but after putting about 3k rounds through the gun in the past 3 months or so, they feel like they belong there.

Can we see a pic of your pistol Shivan?  I know you probably posted before but I wanted to see what you did.  I had the pachmyrs on mine, and actually like them, but if I shoot one handed, it feels better with regular type grips.  I can get my hand around it better.  So I was thinking about what kind of good grips I should get.  Thanks.  Sorry for the sort of hijack, although it'll probably fit with the thread anyways.

This Warrior was worked on by Novak's, and has less than 1000rds on it:

This Warrior is stock and has between 3200 - 4200rds on it -- the thumb safety was modified by Larry Vickers for a better taper & has not been refinished yet:

Check out the latest Gun Test Magazine, They Picked the TRP over the Kimber TLE and Sig P220R SSO. Though all Guns did Extremely well.  For what you want Lord of War,either gun will be great.  I Love my TRP ,so if price is not an issue thats the way I went. By the way I also Hated the OD green color of the MC operator
