| Is the colt combat commander XSE a series 70 or 80? I am looking for a new carry gun and I am looking at these guns. Is this a good choice? If not what else is a good choice for the same size 1911? |
it's 80 series, I own a Colt Commander (non-lightweight) from the 1991 series and have had no problems with it at all. |
Novak style sights vs GI style white dot, forward cocking serrations vs none, slanted cocking serrations vs classic straight, extended ambidextrous thumb safety vs standard, Aluminum 3 Hole instead of sold aluminum, and Double diamond rosewood vs Checkered rubber composite. these are the only differences I can think of. |
Aside from the external diff, the XSE has a little tighter specs on fit. Now what this means is you may get a 1991 that is as good or better even than a XSE, but the XSE line as a whole has a better fit and more attention to detail. Ron |
DW CBOB review I have handled one, but not shot it. Check around on 1911forum.com for more reviews on the Colt XSE, CBOB, and others. |
it'll make a great carry gun; it would be kinda hard pressed to find something comparable (price and quality) that would suit you better....the SA Champion, SW SC/PD, and the Kimber are in the same rough area |
