I bought a new STI Trojan and a lot of magazines won't insert . they get stuck about a third of the way in. If I depress the mag release it get past where it sticks and the mags insert. Any ideas WTF ? |

I had an STI Trojan in .45acp. It worked perfect with Wilson Combat 47Ds, CMC 8rnd Powermags, Novak/ACTs, and Metalform round follower 7rnders. I heard from somone that the magazine release for the STIs hold the magazine about 0.02" higher than others. If it was me, I would use one of the mags I mentioned above, just for quality's sake, and you won't have problems. But if you are using the swapmeet noname mags, then you might have some issues. You could always swap the mag release out (easy cheap fix). |
Yep, the mag catch was just a hair too sharp for the mags & they radiused it. Not unheard of, many 1911s do this & after x-amount of mag changes it sorta "polishes" itself into smoother functioning. |

Had the same problem got it fixed IM me if you want to know how to fix yours. Ill need to know what brand of mags you are useing. ETA: Ok good I went back and read a few more of your posts. Glad its working out for you. Ive owned my STI trojan for many years now and love it. Had many high end 1911 pistols and I have to say the sti trojan is my favorite 1911. I carry it every day. |
