| I am planning on buying a commander size 1911 around August for ccw. So much to choose from. Will have about a grand to spend. Toss up over a Colt, Smith and Wesson, Kimber, Sig or other suggestions that you might have. I have heard some negative remarks about kimber lately. Not sure they are true or not. Also not so sure I like the idea of an external extractor. Want something that would make Colonel Cooper nod his head in agreement. Please advise. |

Well, you kind of limited your options to a Colt really... well, or a Springfield. But... I have a few friends with 4" Kimbers and they like them, hell they CCW with them. I purchased a fullsized kimber a month ago and its functioned 100% perfectly. SW and EE, from what I've read, they have one of the, if not the, best EE setups out there. I personally am looking at their SW1911PD commander sized in scandium frame with CT Laser grips. Its a nice looking piece. any of those could be (including colt and SA) found for under 1k easy, unless you go for something with the bells and whistles. |
