Ok I'm looking for a 1911 for carry. I've decided on a Commander size gun as I want 8 rounds in the mag. I'm torn between either a Nighthawk Talon II, Wilson Professional, or a custom Colt Commander. What Colt model do I need to look for if I want to something similar (images below)? Does Colt make a good lightweight model I can start the base gun from? Will it cost me more to do the Colt...should I just go with a Nighthawk? I'm so torn! BTW I'm 5'7 135 lbs so a fullsize model isn't the best idea for me...   |
How do you plan on carrying the pistol? In an IWB holster, the slide/barrel is the easy part to hide, it's the long grip that sticks out from a skinny body. Now, in a horizontal shoulder holster, a short slide would help. Just wondering.

My Commander doesn't look like that anymore. When I did the mods you show, I was using a Nighthawk as a model. I say get the Colt Commander. Mine has been reliable and accurate. It looks like this now.
