I was going to go with Brown, but have heard numerous reports on them being less than stellar lately. Whats a good one?
Baer?
Kings?

thanks

If I may, numerous reports from where?

mentioned here, in the EB post, and a smith over on th 1911 forum had some pics of how it didn't fit well, and he tried 2 or 3 EB safeties, none of which were better. He "fixed" it by using a CMC IIRC.

A few others on the 2 1911 forums. Enough reports and pics that I am a bit wary....

I notice those are called "EZ fit" will I be able to get a good tight finished product, or are those the drop in kind that leave a gap?

Also, the EB jig will work with any .250 radius GS correct?

Can you post a link?

From my personal experiance I've always found Ed Brown Parts to be Top Quality. Below is a Colt National Match that Jim Strogh fitted an Ed Brown beavertail safety to. Jim Strogh by the way is a member of the American Pistolsmiths Guild and is a TRUE gunsmith, not someone who deceided to call himself one. So you'll have to excuse me if I investigate this alledged lack of QC on Ed Brown parts a bit further.

There's nothing DROP IN about the S&A.  I did two of them.  It's not a cake walk by any stretch, but if you're good with your tools it's not too hard.

Good deal, thanks.

SGB- I'll see if I can find it.....yours obviously looks perfect, so it may have been a fluke between the GS and certain frame....

Okay here it is. Not a huge deal, and if it was already done I probably wouldn't replace it, but since I'm starting from scratch, why not get one that will fit the best?

Also- the OP in that thread is not a "real" smith, just to clear that up....

What I like about the S&A is when I did my Stainless Colt XSE, I did not have to do any refinishing.

If you follow the blind hog's instructions, you will do fine.

That was actually my very first choice, but the radius isn't right, I need .250.
