| Any suggestions on spring replacement intervals and suggestions on brand for a Kimber Custom II? Also which ones, mainspring interval, recoil spring interval, any others? Mods maybe you could include this in the FAQ if this thread proves useful? |
Most will tell you the mainspring really never needs changing. I would maybe change it every 10,000 rounds just as a precaution. Remember, springs don't wear out under compression, they were out from use (cycling) so leaving a 1911 cocked and locked won't wear out the mainspring. Recoil springs in a 5" gun with hardball loads will be good for around 2,000 rds. I'd change the firing pin spring when you change the recoil spring, again just a precaution and Wolf includes a FP spring with their recoil springs. |
Commanders are 4 1/4" not 4". A commander recoil spring is Factory 18lb Springfield & Kimber 4 " guns are factory 22lb Wolf makes thier improved XP recoil spring for the 4 " guns. Wolff improved design recoil spring offers higher battery pressure along with a higher recoil rating, providing optimal functioning. For all Pro Carry and Compact 4" Kimber guns only.
