Who has the strongest 1911 frame? I'm getting a NICE refund this year and want to build from scratch:

a long slide 1911
.45 Super (or that round that uses .308 brass)
stainless frame/slide.

Other ideas about this build are welcome.

I don't think you'll be able to tell a difference in any of the good, forged frames available today.

Look into Wilson, Les Baer and RRA.

yep, as long as it's forged you're getting the strongest.

the extra money you pay will result in fewer machine marks, assurance that everything is in spec, and maybe a few extra features/custom touches.

Lots of forged companies are using good steel. One thing I would suggest is rethinking SS on a .45 super. You are using higher pressure round, which = more wear and tear. Carbon steel will give you more life. If you want the best of both worlds then, hard chrome it.
