Barrel and bushing - Kart EZ-Fit barrel (it really is good) Hammer, sear, disconnector - Nowlin or Cylinder & Slide both make good drop-in kits..if you want to fit your own, the sky is the limit; this way is just easier and a lot faster Trigger - I've had good luck with McCormick, but most are equal here Slide stop - Wilson Bulletproof Mainspring housing - whatever floats your boat...many makers, many styles; flat, arched, serrated, checkered, stippled... Springs - Wolff seems to be good..stick with ordnance spec weights here; it'll make setting it up a lot easier. You can always custom-tune springs later Extractor - Cylinder & Slide. Accept no substitutes. Others are good, but C&S still makes them out of spring steel...original ordnance specification. I wouldn't feel underequipped with a Wilson Bulletproof one, though Ejector - Wilson extended...I actually filed mine down to be slightly larger than stock spec Colt. You couldn't tell unless you miked it out that it was larger. But, the port on that gun isn't cut open more. If your Caspian has an enlarged ejection port, leaving the extended ejector stock is the only way to fly Grip bushings - again..many manufacturers. Take your pick; they're all functionally identical Firing pin - again...many make, all functionally equal; get forged, not cast though. Cracked firing pins are bad Firing pin stop - EGW Oversize. Slightly break the bottom edge, fit the rest Beavertail/grip safety - this is a matter of much conjecture. Do you want a big beavertail, or do you want a classic 1911 look, spur hammer and all? (C&S offers a spur hammer drop-in action kit, hammer sear and disconnector...) Wilson, Smith & Alexander, Ed Brown...etc etc etc...all make good grip safeties Thumb safety - Wilson tactical extended - the thin pad one. McCormick extended thumb safety is also nice, albeit..bigger pad. I prefer smaller/thinner pads, but that's just me Magazine catch - again...many makers, most all equivalent. Stick with a forged one, not a MIM one. Ed Brown seems to be good Sights - bigger can of worms than the whole "stock USGI or Beavertail" grip safety thing, or worse..flat or arched mainspring housings. I'd say start with a set of Kings Hardball sights and move from there...but, that's just me Various other pins (sear pin, main spring housing pin and plunger, etc) - Wilson Combat ...that should pretty much set you up, from stem to stern. |
