Does anyone have any experience with this?  I'm thinking about buying a Commander size 1911 in .40S&W and having a BarSto .357SIG barrel fitted.

Any thoughts, concerns, ideas?

Thanks,
GB

As a former .357Sig owner, my only concern would be affording to feed the thing...............

Another option to get 357SIG performance is to get a 9X23 Winchester.  Ammo availability and cost is an issue with the 9X23 though.  You could start with a 9mm or Super .38 Commander.  You'd need a new barrel (maybe a new bushing), new recoil springs and a new magazine if you start with a 9mm.  There are also used 9X23's floating around.  Springfield Armory will make you one, or convert their 9mm into one for you.  I think that Nowlin makes them too.

The shorter rounds like the 9mm, .40 S&W, and 357SIG do not always do well in the 1911 pattern pistols, which were designed around a cartridge with a longer overall length.

Ross Carter, the custom gunsmith in or around Harrison, AR, made a nice looking 357SIG Commander sized gun several years ago.

A Glock 31 is a 15+1 357SIG.  Mine shoots like a champ, it just doesn't point like a 1911 pattern pistol.

Look at the pistolsmith forum for more info on the 9X23.

Good shooting!
