| I was curious if fitting a match bushing was a project that could be done without using a gunsmith. Can it be accomplished with simple bench tools, like a dremel? Any guidance would be appreciated. |

Yeah, you can work a match bushing with a dremmel, but the proper way is with a reamer. You want to maintain the concentric hole for the bushing to properly match up with the barrel flare at the end. The outside diameter is also important. You want the outside to have as much contact surface possible on the inside of the slide and have a snug fit...otherwise, you are going to take a match bushing, and lose the performance and defeat the purpose of a match bushing. Do you know what to look for in barrel to bushing fit? Bob www.millercustom.com |
No I don't, and with that question it kind of makes me rethink trying to do it myself. If I don't know the simplest of things about the task, my chance of success seems pretty slim. I was just thinking this would be a good, easy, inexpensive way to a)tinker with one of my 1911's without cutting on it, b)wring a little more accuracy out of my pistol. Thank you for the reply.
