Here is a few pics of my new Rock Island Pistol I bought a few weeks ago. A local gunsmith friend of mine did some custome work on it. Replaced a few of the internals, new light hammer, trigger job, drop-in beaver tail, and new grips. I mainly set it up for conceal carry and general purpose use. I also polished the feed ramp and barrel. I held back on replacing the sights. I like the low profile view the mil-specs have. Also they shoot well for me as I practice Point shooting at close ranges, so it is good to go. I may have it beveled/dehorned and a nicer trigger placed in later on, but for now it is ready to rock. Broke it in with 400 rounds (so far), and no failures of any kind. Very smooth action!!! http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g184/REDKNIGHT1775/IM000999.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g184/REDKNIGHT1775/IM001001.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g184/REDKNIGHT1775/IM000997.jpg Let me know what ya'll think...Semper FI! |

Wait 'til you guys get a chance to see the new Rock Island Tactical. It comes with Novak-type sights, a beavertail, ambi safety and a commander hammer from the factory. Price is just a few dollars more than the Rock Island GI gun. Here's a review: 1911 Forum |
