The 1911 platform or the USP Tactical or Mark 23?  My next toy is going to be a suppressed .45 and I'm not sure if I want to get a threaded barrel for one of my 1911s or get one of HK's toys that are already set up for this sort of thing.

HK's are alot more suppressor friendly.  It can be done with a 1911, but the system really wasnt designed for it.  You'd have to find a very light weight can.

That being said, if I ever replace the barrel on my kimber, its going to be threaded anyways...it looks mean as hell.

Why not call some of the suppressor vendors and see what they recommend?  H&K's will most likely be the answer.  However, they can surely set up a can for the 1911 that you have.   I shot one almost 30 years ago.  I had to hand cycle the slide after each shot.  I'm sure a lot has changed sine then.  You might also look at the class III pages here.

Good shopping and good shooting!
