I have to order a front sight for a buddies 1911 and cant find which it is. Anyone help me? Hobbs?...you out there

looks like it started life as the old fashioned post front sight. The it was milled a tad to big for a dovetail front site. I say this for the presence of the dimples. Measure the dovetail cut and find a sight the will fit within those measurments. I know dawson lists there dovetail cut sizes. I think there is only 3 common sizes out there |

Gregory_K is right, it's most likely machined oversized judging by the dimple, so fitting a new one can be alittle tricky. I can explain how to enlarge a new sight without making it look horrible. However, you need to know the sight cut first. Judging by the look of the picture, it appears to be a Heinie. Are you still in Hawaii? I can mail a spare Heinie out to you along with that comp I promised you eons ago. If so, send me your address again. If your buddy is out here, just have him call me and I'll take care of his slide and fitting a new sight. |
